Project | 01 | Climate Change, Poverty and Health: A Case Study on Women and Children in Slums in Dhaka

It is a running research project, which attempts to understand how women and children climate refugees seek shelter in slums, and how climate change further victimizes them with poverty and thus affects their health. The study found that women in particular experience "relative poverty" and difficulty in coping within a new settlement. Inadequate water and sanitation facility paired with crowded, swampy and potentially insecure alleys put them in risk of sexual violence, and thus their choices to mitigate result in comprised health. Children also face similar fate. The study wants to further dig into how the pattern of the settlements impact on their mental health, their extent of adaptation in new environment and overall well being. 
The current findings were presented in the 16th International Conference on Urban Health- People Oriented Urbnization by ISUH and Elsevier, held in Xiamen, 2019.

Project | 02 | A Comparative Study on Identifying Diversity of Factors of Gender-Based Violence in Selected Refugee Camps in Bangladesh​

This study has been conducted with the help of Society for Urban and Rural Advancement (SURA)- a national NGO. In this study, an attempt was made to identify the underlying factors of GBV in selected three refugee camps- Balukhali, Kutupalong and Nowapara Mosni Camp. In addition, the different context of the selected camps to understand the effect of the factors and safety situation in the camps. The abstract of the study has been published in the proceedings of the International Conference on the Rohingya Crisis in Comparative Perspective by University College London (UCL), UK in 2019.

Project | 03 | Tackling Water Scarcity In Tejgaon Rail line Slum Through IWRM

The research is conducted under the "IDRC SAWA Leadership Program", monitored by SaciWATERS and Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology. The aim of the research is to understand the vulnerability of slum dwellers to water scarcity from gender lens, in the context of climate change.
